SUNY Poly Basketball Raises Funds for the Save of the Day Foundation.

UTICA, N.Y. - The Wildcat men's and women's basketball teams met on Thursday with Utica Comet's President Robert Esche, the Founder and Chairman of the Save of the Day Foundation, to donate the proceeds of this year's inaugural SUNY Poly Basketball Golf Tournament.  The golf tournament, which was organized by SUNY Poly head coaches Jessica Skelton and Robert Schoener and executed by a group of volunteers from the Wildcat basketball teams, raised nearly 5,000 dollars for the Save of the Day Charity.

The fundraising event was held at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Rome, N.Y. on September 8th. The tournament saw a full lineup of friends, fans, staff, faculty, and alumni of Wildcat Athletics come together for a great day of golf, food, and raffles for a great cause. Many local businesses helped the Wildcats raise funds for the foundation by donating baskets, purchasing hole sponsorships, and sponsoring teams.

"The Save of the Day Foundation is a fantastic cause supporting children in our area" said coach Jessica Skelton. "Our whole program came together to start this tournament and we really hope that this is just the first of many events to raise funds for Save of the Day. We would like to thank Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, all of the golfers, the businesses, and volunteers who made this event possible. We would also like to thank Robert Esche and the staff at the Save of the Day Foundation for allowing us to partner with them"

"The Rob Esche "Save of the Day" Foundation, Inc., is committed to enhancing the lives of children and families throughout the Mohawk Valley and partnering with other charitable community organizations. The Foundation is devoted to raising funds annually through special events, a partnership with the Utica Comets organization, and direct fundraising activities to benefit the Mohawk Valley community."
