MARCY, N.Y. – The winners of the SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award were announced last week. Eighty-six student-athletes across the SUNY system were honored. This year’s recipients averaged a 3.55 GPA.
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – SUNYIT senior long-stick midfielder Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) was honored with yet another award on Monday, as he was named to the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team.
MARCY, N.Y. – Senior baseball player Jim Sass (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) and senior men’s lacrosse player Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) were both named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One Academic All-District Team for their respective sports this spring.
GANSEVOORT, N.Y.- Two members of the SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse team were named to the NEAC All-conference team Wednesday. Leading the way was Senior Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y./ Cazenovia) who was selected for the second year in a row to the All-NEAC 1st Team as a long-stick midfielder.
MARCY, N.Y. – Senior Day lived up to its name on Saturday for the SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse Team (3-11, 2-5 NEAC), as the old dogs scored 14 of SUNYIT’s 19 goals in a 19-4 blowout of visiting Wells College (3-8, 0-7 NEAC).
NEW LONDON, CT – The SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse Team fell to Mitchell on Sunday in an away game, 7-3. The Mariners jumped out to a 6-1 lead at the half then clamped on defense in the second to hold on for the win.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse Team (0-4, 0-0 NEAC) suffered a gut-punch loss Wednesday night, falling to the Raptors of Bard College (3-0) despite taking a lead in the 4th quarter. The Wildcats scored three-straight in the last period to take a 7-6 lead, only to watch the Raptors respond in kind with a 3-0 run to end the game
MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse game against Mt. Saint Vincent originally scheduled for this Sunday, March 16th, has been canceled due to forecasts of extremely low temperatures. The game will not be re-scheduled.
UTICA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse Team (0-3, 0-0 NEAC) faced another tough test Thursday night, making the trip across town to battle Utica College (1-0) in the Pioneer’s home-opener. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the home team came out firing and earned a 14-4 win to start the season.
MARCY, N.Y. – No team worth its salt celebrates in defeat, however going by the numbers alone, Saturday’s 13-8 loss to SUNYAC power Oswego State was a big step forward for the SUNYIT Men’s Lacrosse Program (0-2, 0-0 NEAC), now in its third season. Saturday’s result was by far the closest the Wildcat team has come to the Lakers in the three years the two teams have squared off
MARCY, N.Y. – This summer, SUNYIT senior men’s lacrosse player Jon Eguren (Vittoria, Spain / Cicero-North Syracuse) will be trading in the royal blue and gray of his Wildcat jersey for the red and gold of his native country.
