Men’s Lacrosse Bested by Cazenovia in NEAC Action

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Lacrosse Team (0-9, 0-3 NEAC) dropped Wednesday night's conference matchup on the road, falling to Cazenovia by a score of 13 to 3.

Cazenovia led 4-2 after the first quarter, then held the visiting Wildcats to just 1 goal the rest of the way for the 13-3 win.

Brandon Maxson led all scorers with 5 goals for Cazenovia, while Joe Delia was the leading assist man on the day with 5.

For the Wildcats, Adam Reynolds (Johnson City, N.Y. / Johnson City) joined Tyler Serva (Chenango Forks, N.Y. / Chenango Forks) and Jon Eguren (Vittoria, Spain) as the only goal scorers for the visitors, each tallying one unassisted strike.

Defenseman Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) led the Wildcats with 4 caused turnovers and 4 groundballs in his hometown.

Wildcat goalie Jeff Melnik (Yonkers, N.Y. / Stepinac) did all he could, making 17 saves on the day, but the Cazenovia attack was too much as they out shot the Wildcats 44 to 32. Another big key was the play of Cazenovia faceoff man Zach House, who won an eye-popping 14-of-17 faceoff attempts.

SUNYIT will return home this Saturday to host Medaille. Game time is slated for 1:00 pm.
