Men’s Lacrosse Finishes Season on High Note with 10-4 Victory over Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Men's Lacrosse Team (5-8, 3-5 NEAC) defeated the Mavericks of Medaille College (2-11, 1-7 NEAC) on the road Saturday afternoon by a score of 10-4 to finish out the season.

The Wildcats jumped on the Mavericks for 4 goals in the first quarter. All four goals were scored by different players as the road team spread the ball around on offense.

SUNY Poly's defense was stout as well – the Wildcats held the Mavericks scoreless through the entire first half, and didn't surrender a goal until 10 seconds were left in the 3rd quarter.

Andrew Wurz, Shane Joswick, Andre Shattell, and Neil Nembhard all tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece. Wurz added a pair of assists to tie Nick Levanti for the lead in that category, and Joswick's 5 groundballs were a team-high.

Medaille held a slight advantage on the faceoff for the game, winning 10 of 18, but the Wildcats were more than able to compensate by forcing 30 Maverick turnovers, committing just 21 themselves.

SUNY Poly finishes the season with 5 wins, tying the program mark set during the 2013 season, when the team finished a game away from qualifying for the NEAC Tournament.
