GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – After helping the Wildcat to a 3-1 start over the weekend at their home invitational, Justin Rich (Hamburg, N.Y. / Eden) was selected as the NEAC Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Below is an excerpt from the NEAC press release:
Justin Rich (Hamburg, N.Y.) has been chosen as the NEAC Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after a terrific start to the season for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats. The senior libero, who was last year's NEAC Defensive Player of the Year, picked up right where he left off, as he registered 40 digs and averaged 3.08 digs per set to help the Wildcats go 3-1 at their own season-opening invitational this past Friday and Saturday. After compiling 11 digs in a 1-1 split during play Friday, Rich would tally back-to-back double-digit dig totals in a pair of wins Saturday, starting with 13 digs in a 3-2 thriller with D'Youville before closing with a match-best 16 digs in a 3-0 victory over Wells. Rich also committed just one ball handling error and two reception errors through 13 sets on the weekend while emerging as the early conference leader in total digs.
