GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – A.J. Davids (Hilton, N.Y.) has been named the NEAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week after an incredible week for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats.
The junior led the Wildcats to a perfect 3-0 record in conference action last week after registering 35 kills behind a .492 hitting percentage in addition to 11 digs and five blocks. Davids committed just five errors on 61 swings to hit at least .450 in all three victories while amassing double-digit kill totals in each match, starting with 12 kills along with four digs and two assisted blocks in a 3-0 sweep over Penn State Altoona last Friday. He followed that up with 11 kills and two assisted blocks in a 3-0 win over Lancaster Bible Saturday before registering 12 kills, seven digs, an ace and a solo block in a 3-0 victory over Keuka later in the day.
Davids is now third in the conference in both kills (218) and points (267.5), while being fifth in both assisted blocks (45) and total blocks (54). The Wildcats are now 7-6 in NEAC play and 14-10 overall.
