NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team (5-9) lost to New Paltz (5-3) on Wednesday 0-3 on the road. Wildcat Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) reached an impressive milestone in the match, becoming the first setter in program history to surpass the 3,000 assist mark.
Goggin entered the match needing just five assists to reach 3,000. He had 19 assists, three digs and a block assist.
Garrett Hassard (Oneonta, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with six kills in the match. He hit .857 on seven attempts and had a match high two solo blocks and a block assist.
Donovan Suguitan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had five kills and three digs in the match. Ryan Gloff (Brockport, N.Y.) had four kills and a dig. Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.) had three kills, a team high three service aces, and three digs.
For New Paltz, Nick Smith had a match high 14 kills. Setter Matthew Grace had 30 assists, and Robert Nolan had a game high eight digs.
The Wildcats will take a week off before hosting a tri-match on February 24th. SUNY Poly will host Wells and Mount St. Vincent. The Wildcats will play Wells in their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match of the season at 12:00 PM and then will play a non-conference match against Mount St. Vincent at 4:00 PM.
