Canton, N.Y. - The Wildcat women's basketball team started their season strong with a 80-50 victory over D'Youville College at the SUNY Canton Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.
Khristaijah Jackson (Levittown, Pa.) had a fantastic game for the Wildcats. Jackson had a game high 26 points. The senior forward shot 80% from the field during her 26 mins of play. She attacked the Spartan's defense aggressively dominating in the paint and from mid-range. Jackson also led the Wildcats with a game high 12 rebounds.
Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent, N.Y.) came off the bench with an offensive push for the Wildcats finishing with 15 points. Harrison shot 100% from the field, going 6-6 in field goals, 2-2 from the three-point line and 1-1 at the foul line.
D'Youville's Monica June led the Spartans with 7 points. Jordan Smith, Hannah Simone CeDrice Howard, and Morgan Lehman rounded out the scoring for D'Youville scoring 6 points each. Smith grabbed 11 boards for the Spartans.
The Wildcats will continue their play in the tip-off tournament playing the Bears of SUNY Potsdam on Saturday at SUNY Canton. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday.
