Dan Liberto enters his second season as the head men’s and women’s volleyball coach at SUNY Polytechnic. During his first season, the women’s team compiled an overall record of 16-19, with the men’s team having a 15-13 mark. Both programs qualified for NEAC post-season play. Under his direction, the Wildcats placed two women’s players on the NEAC all-conference team, with three members of the men’s program also earning all-conference honors.
Prior to taking over the programs at SUNY Polytechnic, Liberto spent a year assistant men’s and women’s coach at Keuka College. Prior to Keuka, he assisted with the nationally ranked Nazareth men’s program from 2011-2013. In 2013 the Nazareth team finished national runner-up in the NCAA Men’s Volleyball championship. Liberto also spent three seasons at SUNY Geneseo with the women’s program. In addition, he has coached at the boys club level with the Pace Bootlegger and Victor Volleyball clubs based out of Rochester, New York. His 17-under boys team finished in the top-15 nationally in 2013.
As a student-athlete Liberto played four seasons at SUNY New Paltz, where he graduated in 2010. Liberto served as team captain for two season, compiled over 1,000 career kills, and eared all-conference honors in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association in 2009. He continued his education at SUNY Brockport, and completed his Master’s in Athletic Administration in 2013.
He has been actively involved with the USA Volleyball High Performance programs since 2012. During his time he has assisted in the tryout process of the High Performance pipeline, as well as worked a number of camps sponsored by the USA Volleyball High Performance program. In the summer of 2015 he was invited to work the High Performance Championships; the programs elite event, held in Des Moines, Iowa. He is also actively involved in the Iroquois Empire Volleyball Association high performance program. Liberto has just started serving on the NCAA Men’s Division III Volleyball committee in September of 2015, and will do so through the summer of 2019.
Liberto holds a CAP I coaching accreditation level, and is an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. He has worked a number of collegiate volleyball camps including the University of Texas, Cornell, SUNY Binghamton, and Nazareth College. Additionally, he is a certified volleyball official.
